Growing Up Underground Style

Chapter 3

It had taken them about an hour and a half to get to there favorite spot and to set up their lunch. While they were eating they always talked about anything and everything under the sun, Sarah felt that she could talk to Jareth about anything and Jareth welcomed it. They had that type of relationship where either one could talk to the other about anything, Jareth was more than a father figure to Sarah he was more like a best friend. Jareth too viewed Sarah as a best friend, he felt that she should view him as more than a father figure but someone who she could trust to be there for her and someone to talk to that she could tell anything. Each passing day he had fallen more and more in love with her and some how wished that he could speed up time just so that she could be his forever. Sarah too had started to feel more for Jareth, more than she thought she should and more and more with each passing day, each time she caught herself doing it she mentally scolded herself. This was one of the only things that she kept from Jareth. Every once in awhile the subject got brought up about her birth parents Above, Sarah never called them her real parents always her birth parents because she felt that Jareth was more like a parent than they were. She felt that they didnt have that right considering that her mother wished her away, Sarah had nothing against her birth father, but she still didnt feel it was right to call him her real father. She actually felt that any parent who could wish away their child should be ashamed to call themselves a parent, especially the ones who didnt even try to win back their child, much like her mother. The few things Sarah enjoyed about the whole wish-away business was that when she was at the castle at the time she got to play and watch over the child, which she enjoyed very much and that the child, if the wisher tryed to win the child back or not, got to go to a new loving home where they would be cared about. Sarah had learned very earily everything about the labyrinth, like that no one had ever solved the labyrinth and that the whole turning the child into a goblin was just a trick into scaring the wisher, when actually the child was put up for adoption. Today was one of those days where Sarah asked Jareth about her family Above.

"Jareth have you found out anything new about my birth parents?" Sarah asked while munching on a sandwich that the goblin servents had packed. "Indeed I have, I just have found out that your mother has left your father" Jareth said  "What, why, why would she do such a mean thing, what did he do?" Sarah stated shocked  "Nothing, Precious, nothing", explained Jareth calmly "your mother left your father because she felt that he was holding her back from accomplishing  her dreams in life." "So she up and left him thats so stupid, just plain rude, selfish, and mean if you ask me." Sarah exclaimed. "Precious your mother was never the nicest person as I recall, you remember the story I told you?" Jareth said "Yes, how could i forget, but still." Sarah said. Jareth open his arms wide as Sarah got up from where she was sitting and walk over to Jareth and sat down in his lap. "I know Precious, I know," Jareth said as he embraced her in his arms as she layed her head on his shoulder "but some people will never change for the better even those who really should" "I know that but I just feel so bad for him like I wish there was something I could do for him" Sarah said as tears started to stream down her face. Jareth started to rock her back and forth in his arms and said  "I know Precious but he didnt seem to be in love with her as much as he was when they first got married and now he doesnt have to deal with that horrible woman ever again and you know what else, I'm sure that he will find someone new who wont hurt him like that ever again and will love him as much as he loves her" Jareth stated. "Thats true, very true" Sarah sniffled.

They stayed like that for a few more minutes before they heard the galloping of a horse. They both looked to see someone riding up to them, as the person drew closer Sarah was the first to reconise the person as Jareth's twin brother Jared. Sarah sprain up from Jareths lap as Jared dismounted his horse. "Uncle Jared" Sarah screamed excitedly. Jared turned around as Sarah flew into him, arms wide, he had barely enough time to open his own arms to embrace the hug. Sarah pulled away from Jared as she asked "Uncle Jared what are you doing here?" "Yes what are you doing here" came a voice and as they turned around found the voice to be from Jareth who had a stern look on his face.
